FEE WAIVERS

Eligibility to receive fee waivers for the SAT and ACT exams as well as college application fees are determined by the NYC Dept of Education income verification forms.  If you have not already completed and submitted your child’s income verification form, complete the online form at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Home/PickDistrict .

ACT/SAT/NACAC fee waivers are distributed by the College Office secretaries in Room 225 between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm.

ACT Fee Waivers
In a student’s lifetime, s/he is allowed to use two fee waivers for the ACT.  If a student registers to take the exam, but does not appear on the test date, that still counts as using one fee waiver.

SAT Fee Waivers
In a student’s lifetime, s/he is allowed to use two fee waivers for two different dates of the SAT and two fee waivers for two different dates of the SAT Subject Tests (formerly SAT IIs). Students can take up to three Subject Tests on any given test date. If a student registers to take the exam, but does not appear on the test date, that still counts as using one fee waiver.

College Application fee waivers
1) The Common Application  fee waiver process is completed entirely online.  Financially disadvantaged students request a fee waiver in the "Profile" section "Common App Fee Waiver".  The counselor will then confirm this information online via Naviance.  The Common App fee waiver waivers application fees to all colleges to which a student applies via the Common App site.

2) Non Common App colleges (MIT, Georgetown, etc.) often accept the CollegeBoard fee waiver, available to students who used SAT fee waivers via their online account at www.collegeboard.org. Eligible students may also use a NACAC Fee Waiver, which they can pick up from the College Office (225)  any school day between 8:00 and 3:00pm.  Eligible students who did not use a fee waiver for the SAT may ask their College Counselor about using a NACAC fee waiver.

3) Students using suny.edu to apply to SUNY institutions rather than using the Common App must obtain a separate SUNY fee waiver from the College Office, which they must complete, sign, and mail to SUNY ASC. We strongly recommend that students use Common App rather than suny.edu whenever possible.
