Music
All classes meet daily for full credit. Students are expected to attend rehearsals on time daily, unless legally excused. Students are also required to participate in all concerts and in special after-school performances, as well as special pre-concert rehearsals. Sufficient notice will be given in order to plan for these events.

Successful progress in the Band program exempts students from Music Appreciation, as well as fulfills the Stuyvesant H.S. “hands-on” senior shop requirements. Grades are based upon attendance, class participation, care of assigned Stuyvesant band instruments and sheet music, effort, attitude, participation in all public performances, and overall contribution to the ensemble.

Students are asked to support Music Department activities by attending recitals, master classes, and concerts. In addition we ask that students assist in selling advance tickets to departmental events.

The dress code for all public performances is as follows: Men—dress shirt, long tie, jacket, slacks, dress socks & dress shoes; Women: long dress (mid-calf or lower), or blouse and long skirt (mid-calf or lower) or blouse and black dress pants or pants suit.
