It is the goal of the Physics Department to provide our students with a solid foundation in the Physical Sciences while fostering an appreciation for Science in general. To do so, we offer a wide range of courses which include those required for graduation such as Physics along with many geared for students who have a strong interest in the study of Physics such as Modern Physics.
The completion of the requisite course work, traditionally in junior year, enables the students to explore more advanced and specialized topics in electives such as Modern Physics and Astronomy. We also offer research in Physics through our Regeneron program, and our advanced placement classes, AP Physics B and C, are designed for those who wish to continue studying Physics at the college level.
The department currently has one bi-annual publication called SIGMA which is a research magazine that presents recent student abstracts and research papers that were submitted to the Regeneron Science Talent Search competition along with articles written by the members of the SIGMA publication club.
